Under the leadership of J. Erik Kamfjord, Winegardner & Hammons, Inc. has become one of the top-ranked independent hotel management companies in the nation. Erik developed the business plan that helped fuel WHI's growth from managing a single hotel brand to managing a diverse portfolio of hotel brands.
Erik's background has served him well in his leadership role. A native of Oslo, Norway, he moved
to New Jersey as a teenager. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia
while on a football scholarship. After undergraduate school, Erik served in the U.S. Marine Corps
as an officer. Following three years of service, he enrolled in the School of Hotel Administration
at Cornell University. Upon graduation in 1967, he joined WHI as an Assistant General Manager and subsequently was promoted to General Manager, District Director of the Greater Cincinnati area and Senior Vice President of Operations in 1969, before becoming President in 1978. In 2000, he became Chairman and CEO.
