Winegardner & Hammons offers numerous opportunities for recent college graduates and current students to learn more about the challenging and exciting field of hotel management. If your goal is to become a hotel general manager, explore some of the valuable hospitality management training programs offered by WHI, including our Fast Track Program to GM and our Internships.

If your career goal is to be a hotel general manager, then consider our Fast Track to GM hospitality management program. This innovative training program is designed to prepare you for the responsibilities of a general manager in less than five years.

If you're accepted into the program, WHI will provide rigorous, comprehensive training focused on the key aspects of successfully managing a hotel, including:

  • 16 month rotation as a supervisor, including 2 rooms and 2 food & beverage departments, then placement as an assistant general manager with responsibility for total property management or other assignment as appropriate
  • More advanced candidates placed directly into Assistant General Manager position
Internships
An internship with Winegardner ↦ Hammons is a chance to experience a wide range of disciplines within a hotel, as well as develop leadership skills for the future.

Our focus is selecting interns whose primary career goal is to become a hotel general manager. Many of our current general managers will proudly tell you about their internship experiences with WHI during college.

Criteria for college internships:

  • Sophomore or junior standing
  • Hotel/restaurant management or business major
  • Prior food and beverage experience or a commitment to learn
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities

Internship Description
Selected college candidates (sophomores/juniors) spend a minimum of 10 weeks at one of our hotels. Each intern rotates positions through food & beverage and other designated departments. When the intern progresses, the individual may participate in management-level responsibilities, including manager-on-duty shifts, to help develop leadership skills.

Six-month internships are also available. Housing assistance is available. Candidates must have their own transportation.
