Area’s First Full-Service Hotel in More Than 15 Years
WASHINGTON July 11, 2003 - Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE:MAR) today announced the opening of the
295-room Pittsburgh Marriott North, the first full-service hotel to open in
Cranberry, Penn. in more than 15 years. Located at 100 Cranberry Woods Drive,
this latest addition to the Marriott Hotels, Resorts and Suites portfolio will
operate as a Marriott franchise, owned by a partnership consisting of
Winegardner & Hammons, Inc. and Eagle Realty Group, and managed by
Winegardner & Hammons. The eight-story hotel plans to employ more than 130
associates.
Ideally situated in Cranberry Woods Business Park at the intersection of Rt.
228 and Interstate 79, the Pittsburgh Marriott North is among the first new
businesses spurred by the State of Pennsylvania’s undertaking to connect
Interstate 79 and the Pennsylvania Turnpike. The property is 30 miles from
Pittsburgh International Airport and conveniently located near many area
companies, including MSA, Verizon, Emerson and PPG.
The Pittsburgh Marriott North offers 14,000 square feet of meeting space,
including eight executive boardrooms. For large-scale functions, the hotel
features a 7,500-square-foot ballroom ideal for banquets and corporate or social
events. Technological capabilities include wireless high-speed internet access
in all meeting rooms and public spaces, comprehensive audiovisual services, and
a fully equipped business center.
Guest rooms are handsomely appointed and feature the Marriott Bed with down

rooms have been designated as “The Room That Works," specifically designed for

chair and power outlets located at desk level for convenient access. The
property also offers a concierge level with upgraded amenities, bathrobes and a
concierge lounge serving daily continental breakfast and cocktails.
The hotel’s restaurant and lounge, RiverCity Grille, features contemporary
American cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Additional hotel amenities
