CINCINNATI, OH — April 24, 2001 - Marriott International, Inc. (MAR:NYSE) announced today that the
Austin Marriott North is scheduled to open May 14, 2001. The newest addition to the Marriott Hotels, Resorts
and Suites portfolio, this 295-room property is located at 2600 La Frontera Boulevard in Austin, Texas’ flourishing
business district of Round Rock. The property will operate as a Marriott franchise, co-owned by Winegardner and Hammons,
Inc. and Eagle Realty Group and operated by Winegardner & Hammons, Inc., and plans to employ more than 150 associates.
The Austin Marriott North has the benefit of a prime location in the new La Frontera Net.Plex E-Business Center.
This 328-acre, mixed-use development already includes 875,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space, and two
office complexes. Up to four million square feet of office campus, approximately 1,000 apartments, and an additional
“lifestyle” retail center are planned. The new Marriott is a neighbor of Dell corporate headquarters, Farmer’s Insurance
Group regional headquarters and convenient to IBM and Motorola.
The first full-service hotel in Round Rock to offer meeting space, the property provides up to 14,000 square
feet in the form of eight executive boardrooms, the Atrium and La Frontera Ballroom. All meeting rooms and the
hotel’s business center are equipped with high-speed Internet access and audiovisual technology.
More than 200 guest rooms come equipped as the Marriott “Room that Works” for business travelers, with dual-line
phones, voicemail and dataport, large console table, writing desk with moveable light, and adjustable ergonomic chair.
Other room amenities include individual climate control, in-room pay movies, coffeemaker, hairdryer, iron and ironing board.
Hotel features include a concierge level, executive fitness center with lap pool, room service, valet service,
gift shop, and an express breakfast option.
Guests can dine at the hotel’s RiverCity Grille and Lounge, which features American cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Nearby attractions include shopping and dining at La Frontera Village, the Chisholm Trail Historic District,
Lake Travis, University of Austin-Texas and the State Capitol. Walking and jogging trails, as well as tennis
and golf, are nearby. The Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is a 20-mile drive from the hotel.
