First Marriott Hotel Opens in Downtown Cincinnati – Event marks first hotel opening in downtown Cincinnati in nearly 30 years
CINCINNATI – March 30, 2011 – Western & Southern Financial Group, Eagle Realty Group and Winegardner & Hammons celebrated this morning the opening of the newest hotel in downtown Cincinnati – Residence Inn at the Phelps – with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The Residence Inn is the first Marriott branded hotel ever to open in downtown Cincinnati.
"The opening of the Residence Inn at the Phelps is yet another piece of our plan and commitment to make the eastern corner of downtown a very exciting place to work and live," said John F. Barrett, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Western & Southern. "We needed a high-quality extended-stay hotel to serve the many businesses located in this area."
The new hotel features 134 one- and two-bedroom residential-style suites with 60 percent more space than traditional hotel rooms. Each spacious suite features separate living and working spaces; a fully equipped kitchen; complimentary in-room high-speed Internet access; a large, well-lit work desk with ergonomic seating; and flat panel high definition TVs.
Guest amenities include a complimentary HomeTouch breakfast featuring an extensive hot breakfast buffet; 24-hour coffee service; evening entertainment and other events in the lobby bar; a large fitness center; and The Market, which provides guests 24/7 access to a food and beverage pantry – all cornerstones of the Residence Inn by Marriott experience.
